Should Puerto Rico be more heavily invested in Renewable Energy?

Might Puerto Rico remain vulnerable with a main grid powering the entire island because of the island's ongoing vulnerability to hurricanes? Could renewable energy allow for an instant back up plan that does not rely as heavily on a centralized grid or at the very least, works somewhat independently of a centralized grid?

Donald Trump himself stated that helping Puerto Rico was more difficult than if they were on the Mainland specifically because Puerto Rico is surrounded by water. Alternative renewable energy on a localized level might allow Puerto Rico to better survive a hurricane than one main power grid located in a centralized location.

Puerto Rico could benefit from both a centralized power grid and renewable energy grid. The question is should the renewable energy strategy be sidelined until a new power grid is up and running, or should a renewable energy power grid be established simultaneously as a new power grid is being built?

Puerto Rico's Recovery hindered by Government Funds being spent on the Mainland rather than in Puerto Rico.

Excellent article quickly explains the appreciated but somewhat muted impact that occurs when US Government funds are not spent in Puerto Rico to help Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria more quickly or effectively. Instead, U.S. Funding is spent on the U.S. mainland to provide goods and services destined for Puerto Rico. I don't speak for Puerto Rico and I would imagine the help is much apprecaited, however the overall effect is somewhat muted if the funds are not spent in Puerto Rico.

This is the exact reason why RicoAmerica was conceived. I am on LinkedIn hoping to connect with Puerto Rico Decision Makers.

New York Power Authority continues to work with Puerto Rico on Power Grid Improvements.

The New York Power Authority continues to work with Puerto Rico on not only establishing power to the Island's residents, but also on rebuilding the power grid so that it can withstand future storms. A lot of work lies ahead but progress is being made.

Congratulations Puerto Rico, Today, September 23, 2018 is the 150th Anniversary of your first revolt and demand for independence from Spain.

Kind of a big deal and I hope it gets some coverage in the United States, 150 years is such a round number and well worth acknowledging when it comes to the first protest Puerto Rico held to become Independent of Spain.

Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria from 2017 is being reported as causing the most deaths ever by a Hurricane.

RicoAmerica was created before the news of the total number of deaths from Hurricane Maria being revised upward to 2,975.

Apparently 1,000 more people died in Puerto Rico than in the previous worst Hurricane death total from Hurricane Katrina. RicoAmerica is still in its infancy but I will keep promoting the concept of American Corporations creating skeleton teams that attempt to recreate their products presently being made outside of the U.S., in Puerto Rico as well. Hence the name, RicoAmerica.

My Inspiration for Rico America.

I recently read a LinkedIn article regarding Economic Diversity by Ashton Kutcher right around the same time that I saw an episode regarding Puerto Rico's Rebuild from CNBCs The Profit starring Marcus Lemonis. I was inspired to come up with an idea called Rico America that would try and tackle the problems presented by Mr. Kutcher and Mr. Lemonis.
